This guitar is a special edition of the Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard reissue that features a Korina Body & Neck and an Oak Top.
The Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard is a reissue of the electric guitar that many consider to be the most desirable guitar of all time.
The 59 Les Paul Standard has been immortalised, in part, thanks to iconic players such as Jimmy Page and Paul Kossoff, but during 1959 only a few hundred of these guitars were made, making it near on impossible to track down one of the originals.
Now thanks to Gibson, this guitar is available again as the most historically accurate, period correct reissue the company have ever released.
Created after precise measurement of original vintage Les Pauls, this guitar features stunningly accurate detail and feels, plays and looks the the real thing.
The guitar has a solid Korina wood body, a one-piece Korina wood neck which has a long tenon that runs through into the body for added stability and sustain, and an oak top, a rounded 1959 neck profile, Gibson BurstBucker PAF reproduction pickups,an historically accurate thin fingerboard binding that’s only .040-inch thick which gives a genuine rolled-edges feel to the fingerboard.
In addition, it also has an historically accurate 1/2-inch wire channel from toggle switch to control pocket, accurately sized back control pocket route, correct height of the binding in the cutaway, 5/8-inch heel with accurate heel shape, period-correct carved arch on the guitar’s maple top, correctly tapered headstock with tuner holes in a straight line.
Also included are period-correct electronics, control knobs and hardware.
