The LG47 is a lightly built X-braced guitar which sounds incredible for fingerstyle playing, and also has enough size and punch to make it great for flatpicking as well. The scalloped bracing brings out the best in this smaller body, giving a bass tone that is strong and more commanding than you would expect from an instrument of this size. Many pre-war examples had “baseball” bat sized necks but Atkin use their standard C-shape neck.
All Atkin acoustic guitars have an “Aged Finish”. Eight coats of Nitro Lacquer with a yellow tint are applied to give a thin gloss finish, the guitar is then frozen to achieve the vintage look, which includes lacquer cracks and sinking, plus odd blemishes that you would expect from an old instrument. The tuners, bridge pins and saddle are also cosmetically aged to further enhance the appearance.
