RM1 Walnut Mandolin-1

National RM1 Walnut Mandolin, featuring a figured Maple top, Walnut back and sides, a 1.25" nut width and a 14" scale length. Complete with case.

National first unveiled its pioneering resonator mandolins back in the early 1930s, and they keep the tradition alive with their modern versions. They proudly echo the original National catalog and say that their instruments “retain the clear, ringing tone typical of a good mandolin, yet the cone amplifier makes possible the volume wanted for ensemble playing.” The RM1 was two years in R&D before it was finally ready for production. It boasts traditional features such as an A-style body, biscuit bridge, and vintage-style open-gear tuners, combined with modern appointments, including an intonated saddle and the comfortably radiused, extended fretboard topping the highly figured Maple neck. The body is carved from Walnut, with a beautifully figured Maple top. The Art-Deco cast tailpiece and antique brass parts are exclusive to this instrument. Combined, the features add up to a mandolin with a truly transcendent tone.
