Collings CJ45 Traditional featuring a solid old growth Sitka Spruce top, solid Honduran Mahogany back and sides, a 1 3/4" nut width and a 24 7/8" scale length. Complete with deluxe TKL case.
Decades of natural aging combined with the high quality of these difficult-to-obtain old growth tops have resulted in soundboards that possess a high stiffness-to-weight ratio which provides exceptional warmth, headroom, and resonance. There are also visual features that set them apart from new Sitka Spruce due to the natural aging process: the colour of the wood has a bit of patina, and there are variances found in the growth rings that developed over time as well. The result are soundboards with a bit more "character" than new Sitka tops.
As with all of their Traditional Series guitars, when it came time to add a “T” designation to their slope-shoulder offerings, they didn’t simply tweak the original; the Collings CJ-45 T is a fully re-imagined instrument that offers a distinct tonal variation when compared to their CJ and CJ-35 models. Strongly vintage-inspired, the body construction has been completely re-engineered, including new bracing carves and patterns. When combined with their latest T-Series neck design and new CJ-45 neck profile, the result showcases a tone that is exceptionally dry and fundamental with the growl and thump sought after in the great slope-shoulder dreads of the Wartime era.
